Successful Forums put an extremely high value on the confidential environment. If confidentiality it is missing, members will not participate to their fullest. So it’s virtually impossible to remind ourselves of its importance too often.
You can use this quick and easy tip at every meeting, without adding much time at all. Open the meeting by going in a circle with each member saying, “Confidential and In.” Close the meeting similarly, with each member saying, “Confidential and out.”
In a sense, you have bracketed all of the shared information during the meeting with a reminder that the information stays within the group. This exercise at the beginning and end of every meeting underscores our confidentiality commitment to the Forum. And members can feel more confident that it’s all classified.
